Downtown Lawrenceburg Unveils New Mural
Main Street Lawrenceburg is proud to announce the award of an ARTS grant through the State of Tennessee Arts Commission!
The Main Street Lawrenceburg art committee worked with local artists on submissions to paint an interactive mural downtown. The committee decided on a beautiful piece art submitted by Whitney Herrington of Columbia, TN. Her extensive background as a muralist and arts educator made her the perfect candidate for the job.
We are excited about the design that Whitney has submitted and the representation that it has of Lawrenceburg. The style of the mural will be Nicho, which is a Mexican folk art that typically has a religious meaning. Whitney chose this style because it represents our Southern Gospel birthplace heritage.
We couldn't be happier with Whitney's take on our heritage in a modern and fun way.
The grant award for this project was a 50/50 match. The remaining funds will be generated from contributions from community and business members. If you would like to donate to the 50% match of this grant for this interactive piece of artwork downtown, we would love to have your support and appreciate your generocity.
