Downtown Lawrenceburg Awarded $250,000 Placemaker Grant for Co-Working Space Development

Downtown Lawrenceburg is excited to announce it has been awarded a $250,000 Placemaker Grant from Tennessee Economic & Community Development. This funding will support the development of co-working spaces—both private and collaborative—on the upper floor of One Public Square in the historic First National Bank building, now home to The Reserve. The Reserve, a thriving event space, has been beautifully and historically restored by its dedicated owners.

This transformative project aims to inspire growth and innovation among entrepreneurs, remote workers, and business owners in Lawrenceburg. The new co-working space will provide a state-of-the-art environment designed to foster productivity, networking, and creativity, while preserving the charm and character of this historic downtown landmark. The facility will feature private micro-offices as well as a collaborative public co-working area, offering something for everyone in the business community.

“This is an incredible opportunity for Downtown Lawrenceburg and our entire community,” said Downtown Lawrenceburg Director Michele Gantz. “We’re thrilled to begin renovations on this iconic building and create a space that is attractive, fun, and highly functional. This co-working space will offer essential resources and connectivity to entrepreneurs, remote workers, and business owners in Lawrence County, while celebrating the history and beauty of our downtown.”

Building owners and downtown investors Rebecca and Roy Story also shared their enthusiasm:

“Our passion has always been breathing new life into historic buildings, and this grant allows us to take that mission even further,” said Rebecca Story. “This co-working space will provide an inspiring and welcoming environment for workers and entrepreneurs while offering stunning views of our vibrant downtown. We can’t wait to see these spaces bustling with energy and creativity.”

The co-working facility will also serve as the new office space for Downtown Lawrenceburg. The official name and branding of the location will be unveiled soon.

This project underscores the ongoing commitment to Downtown Lawrenceburg as a hub for innovation, community engagement, and economic growth. Renovations are set to begin soon, with updates and timelines to be shared as they become available.
